Professor Darilyn R. Rowan El Camino College Friday, Dec 16 2011 

Professor Darilyn Regina Rowan is the lead instructor and tenured professor in the Photography Department at El Camino College and has been teaching full-time at ECC since 1989. Her teaching responsibilities have included beginning through advanced film and digital photography classes.  Professor Rowan teaches Portraiture, Photographic Creative Processes, Elementary and Basic Photography.  She has also taught Intermediate and Advanced Photography, Beginning and Advanced Photo-Journalism, and Color Photography.  Professor Rowan has conceptualized, organized and installed student photography exhibitions at El Camino College beginning in 1991 in the college library and in local community galleries.  She is responsible for curriculum review, program review, degree and certificate requirements and electives review, and organizing supplies and facilities for the adjunct teaching faculty.  In the fall of 2008 Professor Rowan took a sabbatical work assignment with a major art auction house working with fine photographs in the fine arts department , including research into the provenance issues of photographs being prepared for auction.   During the spring of 2009 Professor Rowan assisted in the design of the renovated new facilities for the ECC Photography Department.  She worked with the college facilities to design spaces for both a wet lab darkroom and a digital Mac Lab for digital photography.  The design and layout allows students to produce both traditional wet lab silver gelatin photographs, film color photographs and digital images.  For information about the El Camino College Photography Department contact Professor Rowan at drowan@elcamino.edu.

ECC photography student Gloria Plascencia has a photograph in the juried show South Bay Focus 2011 at the Torrance Art Museum.  The exhibition is up from November 29th through December 16th, 2011 with a reception on Saturday, December 3rd 6-9 p.m.  Thank you.

Liza Heider Master Class in Photographic Printing on Fabric Friday, November 18th at 12 p.m. Thursday, Nov 10 2011 

The ECC Photography Department is pleased to announce that photographic artist Liza Heider will teach a Master class on photographic printing on fabric Friday, November 18th at 12 noon.  Visit Liza’s website under the blogroll to see her profoundly beautiful photographic work.  Please contact Professor Rowan at drowan@elcamino.edu to find out more and sign up.  The workshop is free of charge to ECC photography students, and the materials will be provided, however it is limited to 20 students.  Thank you.
